How long will God let this go on?
This is the cry of Habakkuk when he saw that "the law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; so justice goes forth perverted.". Today's world is very much similar to the times in which Habakkuk was living in. People in many parts of the world are living in fear because law is paralyzed and the wicked surround the righteous. Even in "civilized" world, the wicked surround the righteous, often hiding in the shadows of the internet and social media.
How should we respond then? David reminds us in Psalm 37:1-7 on how we should respond in these moments of fear and frustration.
Fret not yourself because of evildoers;
be not envious of wrongdoers!
For they will soon fade like the grass
and wither like the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices!
In the world where we want to KO (knock out) the evil and destruction we see happening before our very eyes, we remember that the best way to do so is to Know God and Obey Him! We love others not because they deserve it but because God loves them as well! Let us focus our eyes on the Lord and not on the evil ways of men!
